Character's for Recover The Package part one

Violet Cross,Vacily Pankov, Willy Slick, Miles

Introducing our stars of the night
Violet Cross

Character sheet

First up is Violet Cross: young, beautiful and not to be taken lightly. Violet is 21 years old but she doesn't suffer from the same afflictions as other youths of today. She is a skilled hacker and knows her way around most electronics. She is more comfortable behind a keyboard than interacting with others in society. Her lack of social skills is why she is highly sought after for jobs that need high levels of discretion.

Her father was a drill instructor for a branch of our armed forces. He taught her how to shoot at a very young age and that pain was mind over matter: "if you don't mind, it don't matter".

She sells her services, not to the highest bidder, but for the chance to show that she is the best at what she does. It hasn't been unheard of for her to take a job for a pack of smokes and dinner, if the challenge was high enough.

Violet was contacted for this job through a Craig's list personals ad: Seeking a young, attractive girl with computer know how, not afraid to trouble SHOOT the toughest hack jobs. ;) At first, she was just figuring it would be a night of fun and maybe a little cash on the side from some loser's bank account.  So, she contacted the advertiser and was surprised to learn it wasn't just some perv asking to be jerked off with an old Nintendo power glove but an actual job. The person who posted it figured where better to find a computer geek than trolling the personal ads looking for love. She was informed to make her way to a strip club named KINKY'S to meet up with the rest of her team. There they would receive further instructions in three days around one o'clock in the afternoon. So, she slipped into her best stripper clothes to give the impression she was there seeking a job (well, other than the one she was really there for). She loaded up her jacked up pickup and headed out.

Violet starts the scenario behind the wheel of her yellow monster truck packing a big ass pistol because a girl can never be to careful in her line of work.

Violet starts with a rep of 4, which means, in my interpretation of "VampyFans character creation", she can choose to make two abilities a 4, then she pick two more to be 3, and the last two will have a score of 2.
If you look at her sheet above, you can see where her points have been allotted. Violet is an average driver with a score of 3. Her melee of 2 and shooting of 4 shows that her father assumed his daughter would never need to defend herself up close, if she could shoot well. Her fitness of 3 shows that Violet doesn't just sit in her parents' basement eating cheese poofs and blogging or playing WOW all day. Her anti-social personality is reflected by the 2 in her people attribute, and her computer skills and knowledge of electronics and overall smarts are reflected by her savvy of 4.

Violets two attributes are picked out of the "After the Horse Man" rule book instead of  FFO.  Her first attribute is Strong and Silent showing once again her lack of interest with other people, and states that she will never take a leadership role in a group. Her second attribute Hard as Nails is developed from her father's view on weakness and how he viewed it. Once per game, she will treat an obviously dead result as a knocked down instead.

Vacily Pankov

Character sheet

Vacily Pankov was born in the small Russian town of Borovichi along the Msta River. His mother died during his birth due to unforeseen complications. His father, Kuzma Pankov, raised him on his own the best he could. He named Vacily after his mother's great grandfather as her last request before she passed away. I would like to say Vacily is like he is because his father never hugged him enough or that he was abused as a child. But unfortunately, that would not be the case, as his father always gave him plenty of care and affection. His father was a woodworker by trade, but seeking a better life for his son who was the only living memory of his late wife, Kuzma joined the Russian mafia while Vacily was still a little boy and very impressionable by his father's actions. He grew up learning his father's trade of woodworking, but he also watched and learned other trades not available to boys the age of 10.
As Vacily grew older, he tried his hand at woodworking for a living, but at the age of 17 he had killed his first man. It was an accident, but it was the beginning of a very lucrative career for the young man. His father had just gotten home when the door was kicked in and a large German man followed the door into the room. The German beat Vacily's father ruthlessly in front of him. Vacily knew he had to do something to help his father, so he pulled a drawshave from his woodworking tools and buried it in the German's neck.

Unfortunately, his father had passed away from the injuries he sustained during the fight. Vacily wasn't fully aware of his father's role in the Mafia, but soon leaned it was not at all what he would have expected from his kind and loving father. It turned out that his father, Kuzma, had found his way to becoming one of the organization's best enforcers. But unknown to Vacily, his father had a gambling habit and many of the debts were unpaid. As the news of Vacily's dispatching of the German became known, he found himself in a bad spot. His father's debts now fell to him. The German was sent to collect a debt that his father owed and the Russian Mafia made it very apparent Vacily would take over where his father had left off. Now, as an older man, Vacily is on his way to becoming the lead enforcer by working directly for the head of their branch of the Mafia. He is a ruthless killer with a fondness for the musical sounds of Abba and a taste for fine food and drink. He refuses to harm women and children and struggles with himself on a constant basis whenever he sees them in need. Vacily was enlisted on this mission because his boss owes a favor to the gentlemen that the object was stolen from.
Vacily starts the scenario cruising down the road in his black sports car while Abba is streaming from his car radio. Vacily can be hear singing loudly: "You are the dancing queen, young and sweet, only seventeen"....

Vacily starts out with a rep 4 and picks his abillities just like Violet Cross did. Looking at his card, we see he has a drive of 2, which represents that he was literally chauffeured around from job to job. Vacily had a rough time growing up, always fighting with his peers and his melee of 3 represents this. Shooting is Vacily's preferred method of dealing with lowlife scum which is  indicated by his score of a 4. Since he can't drive very well, he has plenty of walking time, hence his fitness of 4. Vacily is never going to be a diplomat or anything, but he can hold his own when dealing with others, so his people score is 3. It's apparent Vacily never cared much for higher learning and his 2 in savy, may indicate that he works out most of his problems with his gun or fists. This, overall, is probably not a bad habit for an enforcer to have. His attributes are moonshining and natural cook, which shows that he is more than just a ruthless killer.

My next blog post will be the second part of the characters created for Recover the Package.

Recover the package

Just finished a game of Final Fade Out tonight with three of my gaming buddy's. I'm sure we butchered the rules ( ok I butchered the rules ) but over all it was very amusing. I am impressed with the game mechanics and in the way the story plays out. When you think it's going to go smooth the game throws a wrench at your monkey and turns the tables on you once more.

Tonight's game was a home made scenario where we had someone not playing the game help set it up. The normal game mechanics already lend themselves to a random game experience very well. But I decided to add to it for tonights game. The person helping set up cut out a bunch of paper chits to write on. We then decided tonights game would be a find the thief style game, where on of the chits would be the thief. And all the others would be random encounters. Anything from 1d6 zombies, tire irons or non playing characters to run across. One of the chits would contain Stephan the thief and the objective of tonight's game.

Stephan had stolen a very valuable object from a man and was considered priority number one. Calls were made and hit men are summoned to find and retrieve the stollen item.

My next blog will be about the characters that took part in the game

Final fade out character sheets

Last night I made my first two character sheets for my Rocky and Andy campaign. First things first, the sheets are not my own creation I read about them on vampifans blog, and really liked his new skills and the idea of a nice record of every character in my game. So here is the link to his blog post about the character sheets and how he is using them. http://vampifansworldoftheundead.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/atz-ffo-character-record-sheets.html
I doubt I would do any justice to his new rules if I tried to explain them. And his blog is very useful in many ways, he explains the rules very well throughout his games as he posts them.

I did add two things to the original sheets. First is a picture of the character in the top left corner. Second I coated the whole card in a heavy duty lamination. Now when I say I did it, I really mean my friend Kelly helped me bring my idea to fruition she rocks at this kind of stuff. We went to Kinkos and got the card laminated. I was happily surprised to see how sturdy they are and it was very inexpensive to have them cut and coat them. So I see that I will be doing this with all of my character sheets in the future as I finish off my miniatures. I have yet to write on them but I'm sure it will work wonderfully. I plan on using wet erase markers on them because I have had dry erase markers stain other things in the past.
And less worries of the cards getting rubbed off on accident. So enough of my carrying on here are Rocky and Andy hot off the press....

Hopefully my next post will see the character creation of Rocky and Andy. And bring me one step closer to Day One of The Rocky and Andy Show.
And once again my friends and family thank you for indulging my ramblings once more!
